Visa-Free Destinations by Area

Europe: Panama passport holders do not require a visa to visit the Schengen area of Europe for 90 days thanks to the short-stay visa waiver agreement between Europe and Panama. This agreement covers all 27 Schengen countries, including Greece, France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands. Outside of the Schengen area, Panama passport holders can also visit Ireland and some non-EU European states, including Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and Vatican City visa-free. Panamanian citizens need a pre-travel ETA to visit the United Kingdom.

North America:  Panama passport holders need a visa to visit the United States and Canada, as there is no existing visa-waiver agreement between both countries.

Asia: Panamanian citizens can visit some key countries in Asia, including Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the Philippines visa-free for 30-90 days. South Korea requires a K-ETA before travel. China’s mainland requires a full visa, though Hong Kong and Macau have separate and more favorable entry arrangements.

Oceania: Panama passport holders have limited visa-free access in the Oceania region. They can only visit Kiribati and Micronesia completely visa-free for 90 and 30 days respectively. Australia and New Zealand require a pre-travel ETA from Panamanian citizens.

Africa: The majority of African countries require either a visa-on-arrival, ETA or full visa from Panamanians. However, Panama passport holders can visit South Africa for 90 days, Angola for 30 days and Mauritius for 180 days without needing a visa.

Middle East: Qatar allows Panamanian citizens to visit visa-free for 30 days. Saudi Arabia and Egypt provide visa on arrival. Kuwait, Oman, and the UAE all require a full visa in advance.

Non-independent, disputed, or controlled territories: Panama passport holders can access several overseas and dependent territories without a visa, including British Overseas Territories such as the Cayman Islands, and British Virgin Islands.

French overseas territories including French Guiana, French Polynesia, Guadeloupe, are also accessible visa-free, as they fall under France’s Schengen waiver agreement with Panama.

The Dutch Caribbean territories Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba are also visa-free. Other accessible territories include New Zealand’s Cook Islands and Niue, Denmark’s Faroe Islands and Greenland, and Norway’s Svalbard. Kosovo and Transnistria are also accessible without a visa despite their disputed or partially recognised status.

Panama Passport 2026 Updates vs 2025. What Changed?

Here are the recent changes to the Panama passport access in .

The UK now requires an ETA.

The United Kingdom introduced a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for visa-exempt travelers, including Panama passport holders, in 2025 and began enforcing it in February 2026. Travelers must now obtain approval before departure, whereas previously, entry required only a passport.

Namibia added Panama to visa on arrival.

Namibia updated its entry policy in 2025 and expanded its visa-on-arrival system. Panama passport holders previously had to apply for a visa in advance at a Namibian embassy. Now, they can now obtain a VOA directly at Namibian ports of entry.

Cuba moved to a digital visa system.

Cuba transitioned to a digital visa system in 2025, replacing the traditional Tourist Card with an online application process. Panama passport holders can still visit for up to 90 days but must now complete the process digitally before travel.
