Under Jersey’s tiered tax structure, this income generates a mandatory minimum annual tax contribution of GBP 250,000 (approximately 325,000 USD), calculated at 20% on the first GBP 1.25 million of global earnings and 1% on any income thereafter. Once approved for ‘Entitled’ residency status, individuals gain the right to live, work and operate businesses on the island. Under the programme’s real-estate guidelines, they are expected to buy or lease a single, high-value primary residence, with the entry-level value set at a minimum of GBP 1.75 million (approximately 2.27 million USD) for an apartment and GBP 3.5 million (approximately 4.55 million USD) for a standalone house.

Conclusion

The 2026 Global Residency Programs Index 2026 makes one thing clear: there is no single best programme, only the best fit for a given set of priorities. A decade of reform has left the sector more transparent, more compliance-driven and more diverse in the routes it offers (from regulated funds and entrepreneurial ventures to lifestyle and long-stay options) so that residency has matured into a credible, durable planning tool rather than a shortcut. Whether the goal is mobility, tax efficiency, quality of life or an eventual second passport, the value of this 2026 GRP Index lies in matching the right route to the right objective, grounded in evidence rather than marketing.
